On his TikTok page, Barker shared a short clip of himself channeling Tom Hanks’ iconic 1994 movie “Forrest Gump.”

Like the titular character, the drummer sat on a bench, dressed in 90s garb featuring a blue striped collared shirt tucked into khaki pants and secured with a black belt.

He completed the fit with a red cap similar to the one Hanks wore in the movie and running shoes. With the cap on his head, Barker got up from the bench and recreated the iconic running scene where Gump ran across the U.S.

In the video, the drummer ran across a park and down a winding dirt road, where his doting wife popped up from the sidelines to cheer for him, saying: “Run, Travis, run!” Her words referenced the nostalgic “Run Forrest, run!” line from the hit rom-com movie.

The Blink-182 Drummer Was Told He May Never Walk Again

In his statement, Barker recalled the aftermath of the traumatic incident that left him with third-degree burns on “more than 70%” of his body. He wrote:

“I was told by doctors that I may never be able to walk or play drums the same again.”

“I was never athletic, and I never played sports, but I immediately had this urge to prove everyone wrong, including myself,” he continued, revealing that his journey to marathons began with short walks, then short runs every day.

Barker noted that he felt “this sense of calmness and a rush of dopamine” every time he ran and continued the tradition whenever he was on tour by running three miles every day before his shows.
