Volvo will make its final diesel automobile in 2024

Volvo’s final diesel automobile will roll off the road “by early 2024,” the corporate mentioned on Tuesday.

The writing’s been on the wall for years. Way back to 2017, the Geely-owned automaker indicated it could wrap up manufacturing of diesel automobiles by round now.

The automaker adopted up 4 years later, when it declared it could solely promote electrical autos by 2030.

“Solely 4 years in the past, the diesel engine was our bread and butter in Europe, as was the case for many different automobile makers,” Volvo mentioned in an announcement Tuesday. Going ahead, the automaker said it’s “not spending a single krona of our R&D price range on creating new inner combustion engines.”
