The men’s Western Athletic Conference tournament will begin Wednesday with a two-game slate. The tournament will run from March 13-16 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
The first two games are Utah Valley vs. California Baptist and Stephen F. Austin vs. Abilene Christian.
Eight of the 11 teams in the WAC are invited to the conference tournament. Those not invited were Utah Tech, Southern Utah and UT Rio Grande Valley.
Tarelton is technically ineligible for the NCAA tournament but is eligible to play in the WAC tournament. If an NCAA tournament ineligible team wins the WAC Tournament, the conference’s automatic bid will go to the highest seeded tournament-eligible team.
Finishing the season 17-3, Grand Canyon earned the top seed by one game over Tarleton. Grand Canyon would be the first since New Mexico State in 2019 to win consecutive conference championships.

The championship game will be televised on ESPN2. One semifinal game will be televised on ESPN2, and the other will air on ESPNU.
