That game marked the return of freshman guard Bronny James, who missed the start of the regular season after suffering cardiac arrest during a summer workout. In his college debut, the oldest son of Lakers superstar LeBron James finished with four points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in 17 minutes.
“I just want to say I’m thankful for everything,” Bronny said. “Mayo Clinic, everything they helped me with, my parents, siblings for supporting me through this hard time in my life — I just want to give appreciation to everyone that’s helped me through this. Also, my coach, my teammates, all my other coaches, they’ve been with me since the start, and I just want to say I’m thankful for them.”
James and his USC teammates will now look to shake off that defeat as they face their first true road test of the season. The Trojans will travel to Auburn on Sunday and battle a Tigers squad that wants to reach the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year.
