Travis Kelce has a really good idea as to why fans and the public at large are enchanted with his and Taylor Swift’s relationship.
During a news conference Thursday in Las Vegas, a reporter from the Los Angeles Times — who stated that the news organization sent her on assignment there specifically to cover him and Swift — asked the NFL star why “everyone is so fascinated with you two.” She added that Kelce and Swift are likened to the royals because he’s a football star and she’s a world famous pop star.
“I think the values that we stand for and who we are as people,” Kelce responded. “We love to shine light on others, shine light around people that help and support us. And on top of that I feel like we both have just a fun for life.”
During that same news conference, another reporter said she had two questions — the first of which required him to finish singing a lyric from “Karma.” After he completed the lyric, the reporter wanted him to keep singing, but he quickly punted and kindly asked her to ask the second question.
As one might expect, Swlece has been a hot topic this week as the Chiefs prepare to face off against the San Francisco 49ers for a shot at a second consecutive Lombardi Trophy. It only seems like the game has taken a backseat to Kelce and Swift’s high-profile relationship, largely because Kelce continues getting peppered with questions about it on a daily basis.
But to Kelce’s credit, he’s answered each and every question with enthusiasm. Earlier this week, Kelce was asked about Swift’s fashion look at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards, when she donned a strapless, corset-style white gown (custom-made for her by Schiaparelli). She also paired the look with a thigh-high slit, black gloves and matching Giuseppe Zanotti heels.
“Oh, that was fresh,” he said of her look, smiling with a twinkle in his eye. “I liked that. It’s all about the accessories when you go to an awards show like that, she killed it.”
The questions seemingly keep coming his way because Kelce has not shied away from it the least bit while on his New Heights podcast. And the questions are not exclusive to Kelce. His General Manager’s also gotten a taste of Swelce questions.
Kansas City Chiefs GM Brett Veach was asked on the Fescoe in the Morning Show on Audacy’s 610 Sports Radio this week how often the relationship comes up in the locker room and during practice.
“If you didn’t go online, you would have no idea that he’s in a relationship with Taylor Swift,” Veach explained. “[Kelce] doesn’t talk about it, players don’t talk about it. You’d think you’d hear the songs at practice and all the guys getting on him, this and that, but there’s such a high amount of respect for each other in this locker room.”
