World Gymnastics Championships live results, updates, highlights for USA in 2023 women’s team finals

Simone Biles is back on the international stage.

She’s already made history at the World Gymnastics Championships, being the first gymnast to land a Yurchenko double pike during the qualifying stage of the competition. It’s now named the “Biles II,” the fifth overall skill named after her.

But Biles and Team USA are looking for gold in Antwerp. They face off in team finals against seven other countries – Great Britain, China, Brazil, Italy, Netherlands, France and Japan – for the top of the podium. The USA has done more than well so far, leading qualifications with a score of 171.395, more than five points ahead of Great Britain. These top eight finishers, along with the countries that finished 9-12, qualified for the Paris Olympics.

This chase for gold all starts again Wednesday. Biles, Shilese Jones, Joscelyn Roberson, Skye Blakely, Leanne Wong and alternate Kayla Dicello will take the reins as the USA fights for a second-straight gold medal in the team finals.

Should the USA win the team title, Biles would become the first gymnast with five in that category. Just another place for her to etch her name in history.
