72-year-old South Tampa woman caught on camera walking away from home

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Police Department is actively searching for a missing 72-year-old South Tampa woman.

“I think I’m still in shock,” said Lindsey Mirabal. “This doesn’t feel real.”

Miriam Nordlinger walked away from her home in the 1500 block of South Arrawana Avenue and hasn’t been seen since.

The last time Lindsey Mirabal, Miriam’s daughter, said she saw her mother, was at her sons’ flag football games Friday evening.

“She’d been going through a tough time, like psychiatrically, but we had a plan and she seemed like she was doing better,” said Mirabal. “The fact that she came and went to that game was super promising.”

But later that night, Lindsey said her mom did something unexpected.

“She was sleeping in another room because she was having trouble sleeping,” Mirabal explained. “When [her husband] went to check on her this morning, she had put some pillows underneath her sheets, to make it look like she was sleeping there.”

Video sent to WFLA shows Nordlinger in an all-black tracksuit walking off South Arrawana Avenue Friday night around 10:58 p.m.

“She’s probably scared, confused,” said Dino Mirabal, Nordlinger’s son-in-law. “She may have had a plan when she left, but certainly now that we’re going on 24 hours, I’m sure she is scared and wants to find out how she can be home.”

Tampa police said Nordlinger is 5-foot-7, 127 pounds, and has short brown hair with blonde highlights and brown eyes.

We Are The Essentials, a group of former law enforcement and military service embers who help families find missing loved ones, are also searching for Nordlinger, along with friends and family at her house Saturday evening.

“We’re going to search until we’re exhausted of locations of what we can search for tonight,” said private investigator Shawna Fikar.

Fikar said the first 24 to 48 hours are crucial in locating Nordlinger.

If you have seen Nordlinger on your security cameras or know of her whereabouts, call Tampa PD at 813-231-6130.
