Since its launch in 2023, Diablo 4 has struggled with a considerable amount of criticism from many who felt that the dungeon-crawling action roleplaying game was not what it could have been. Over the past several months, however, Blizzard has shown initiative in addressing community feedback through developer-led Campfire Chat livestreams, frequent informative posts, and social media. Now, with the announcement of Diablo 4’s third Season, Season of the Construct, more desired additions have been planned for the game.

Seasons in Diablo 4 are the ideal time for devs to temporarily add new game mechanics to try out and see how they are received, in addition to the obvious fun of playing with creative narratives that are not tied directly to the main game, such as vampires and now constructs. The large updates that correspond with the Season content create an opportunity to add massive overhauls to the base game as well. Therefore, each time a new Season is available for the game, it is a good time for disenchanted players to take another look and assess what changes are happening.

Diablo 4: Season Of The Construct Adds Desired Features

Besides the intriguing new story for Season of the Construct, Diablo 4’s third Season brings many new features to the game overall that will not be limited to this Season alone. A Developer Livestream will be held on January 18 to give more details, and possibly announce more additions to the game, but here is everything currently known to be being added to Diablo 4 with Season of the Construct:

Update

Details

New Seasonal Questline

Gain a Seneschal Companion and fight the evil forces looking to claim the arcane powers.

New Dungeons: Vaults

Vaults are specialized dungeons for Season 3 that will test out new challenges for players and address the community’s concerns over many dungeons being too similar.

The Gauntlet

A weekly rotating fixed dungeon where players can compete for the top score on leaderboards, similar to Diablo 3’s fan-favorite Challenge Rifts.

Helltides Endure

Beginning with Season of the Construct, Helltides will always be active other than a five-minute rest each hour. This gives more opportunities to collect Cinders and rewards.

Extra Stash Tab

The Stash that is located in every capital city can now have an extra tab for more loot.

WASD Movement

PC players can now use the WASD keys to move rather than being forced to rely on the mouse.

Gold Trading

Improvements have been made to the UI when trading Gold.

Skill Tree

Improvements for reallocating points on the skill tree.

Another interesting addition of note is that Diablo 4 devs are no longer going to be instantly changing, or nerfing, builds unless they actually break the game, but will slowly watch things evolve and make small tweaks rather than massive ones. Some loot that was nearly impossible to get in the past will have greater chances of being found, and community feedback is still encouraged with Q&A sessions taking place after developer streams. The full patch notes for Season of the Construct will be available for perusal on January 19, at which point there may be more revealed on what new tweaks have been made.

Diablo 4 Developers Are Listening To Player Feedback

Another Developer Livestream Coming On January 18

In past Diablo 4 interviews, developers have tried to explain that although they are listening to the community and appreciate feedback, some of the large changes that players ask for can take many months to program. With Season of the Construct, many of the added features have been in the works for many months, possibly since the game first launched, and are just now ready to be applied to the game. This perceived delay could, unfortunately, hurt Diablo 4, as many players who were frustrated with the state of the game at launch may not be coming back now that changes are happening.

Diablo 4’s next Developer Update Livestream will take place on January 18. More details and where to watch can be found on the Blizzard website.

The Story Of Diablo 4’s Season Of The Construct

Season Of The Construct Begins On January 23, 2024

While all the base game changes are exciting and relate to many of the frustrations that players have felt in their time in Sanctuary, the biggest content drop with this Season of the Construct is the new Seasonal storyline. In this era, players can explore some of the secrets of Zoltun Kulle’s creations deep inside his hidden vaults and gain a new seasonal robotic Seneschal Companion. From new elemental enemies that have been awakened, to traps set by Zoltun Kulle to protect his treasures, there will be plenty of adventure for the Traveler to discover.

So far, pets have still not been announced as being added to Diablo 4, although having a mechanical Seneschal companion is similar, and hopefully will lead to future pets being added, as was seen in Diablo 3 previously. The robotic storyline of Season of the Construct will be a big shift from the Season of Blood, and bringing in the lore of Zoltun Kulle can be an enticement for longtime fans of the series. With all the changes that developers are attempting to bring to Diablo 4 by listening to the community and tweaking the game, over time it will continue to improve and evolve, hopefully before too many in the dungeon-crawling fanbase have given up and moved on.
