David was living in Annie’s native Thailand after going through a difficult time. David didn’t have any idea that he was going to meet the love of his life 8000 miles away from home. David proposed to Annie within 10 days of meeting her. They were on one of their first dates at the Thai-Cambodia Border Market where Annie was buying things for her little brother and parents. David saw how genuine Annie’s heart was and decided to marry her. However, before that, David had to give Annie’s family a “Sin Sod” or dowry to show financial stability.

Annie’s family agreed to a 50,000 baht dowry and two water buffalo. David later paid them 450,000 baht more as per their agreement. After their engagement, David and Annie lived in a firehouse owned by David’s friends Chris and Nikki Thieneman, who were also her sponsors. David and Annie were struggling financially in America when they married in November 2017. Things started looking better for David and Annie when they moved to Arizona and started an online business where they taught people how to cook.
