Israel-Hamas war live updates on Gaza conflict and latest death toll

The U.N. General Assembly on Friday adopted a nonbinding resolution calling for an “immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce” in Gaza, as Israel said it is “expanding ground operations” and continued to bombard the besieged strip. One hundred and twenty member states voted for the resolution, which was praised by several Arab leaders. The United States was among 14 that voted against it, while 45 member states abstained. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, criticized the resolution for not mentioning Hamas or including the word “hostage.” “These are omissions of evil, they give cover to and empower Hamas’ brutality,” she said. Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson Dan Hagari said Friday that Israel had intensified attacks in the Strip and planned to increase ground activity in the evening.
