Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said he has “personally pushed Israeli leaders to avoid civilian casualties,” which he said is “both a moral responsibility and a strategic imperative.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country is determining “safe areas” for Gazan civilians in coordination with the United States and international organizations. At least 193 people in Gaza have been killed since the fighting resumed, the Gaza Health Ministry said on Telegram.
